The Dean of the Shanghai Qi Zhi Institute, Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, was invited to attend the "Shanghai Science and Technology Festival," and predicted that "AI reasoning" will be the next milestone for AI.

On May 18, 2024, the Shanghai Science and Technology Festival, themed "Technology Makes Life Better," kicked off at the Zhangjiang Science Hall. Prof. Andrew Chi-Chih Yao was invited to attend the red carpet ceremony of the Science and Technology Festival. He was awarded the A.M. Turing Award (the highest international award in computer science) in 2000 and is the only Chinese scientist to have received this honor. He is the Dean of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences at Tsinghua University and the Dean of Shanghai Qi Zhi Institute. He is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a foreign member of the US National Academy of Sciences.

The Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor Zheng Gong attended the event and, together with Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dean of the Shanghai Qi Zhi Institute, Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, and the "Shanghai Star of Tomorrow in Science and Technology," Dou Yifan, jointly initiated the 2024 Shanghai Science and Technology Festival.
